Apple Remote Desktop App Reviews

I’m very disappointed

The default tools on the Mac for remote access MAC to MAC show big performance issues. Screen and mouse are bad. While Microsofts RDP to access from a MAC to WINDOWS works very well (even better than a WINDOWS to WINDOWS). So, I bought this software, very expensive, which is the only revemping and demonstrate the same problems. If I could get a refund.

macOS Sierra

It hangs/freeze on maOS Sierra, tried everything...

Freezing

I bought this app to remote control my mac mini server. I can observe it, but as soon as I want to control it, remote desktop freeze.

Expenive and Slow

Of all the options you have for a remote management application, this is by far the slowest and most expensive. Do not buy. Burning your money (literally) would be more satisfying

Great Product!

A great way to manage mulitple Macs - LAN and WAN. Using it for Mac minis, MBPs, iMacs with no issues at all. Excellent value for a reasonable cost.

BACK TO MY MAC

FINALLY!!! back to my mac computers are visible in Remote desktop!!!! GOOD JOB APPLE!!

Do not buy unless.

- You have more than two computers to manage. - That the "Screen Sharing" application does not meet your needs. Good : - Switching the color depth can be useful with slow internet connection. Bad : - Too costly. - No Lion Native Fullscreen mode. - Copy/Paste to remote computer does not work as expected.

cant make custom install

Cant make custom client install, always comes up with an error when trying to save the install.

Extremely useful

I use this almost daily to change configuration on servers, access my fathers computer who is in a different city, etc. I think its a bit expensive, but saved me way more on trips I didnt have to take!

Seems to be asking for a serial number

Never asked for one before why now?

Issues with Yosemite...

One of the key features of ARD is its ability to observe multiple units at once. This feature does not work when running ARD on Yosemite. Been an issue for months and Apple does not seem to be doing anything about it. Great piece of software that I’ve used for years now has a huge flaw.

Super useful, if a bit buggy

I manage ~20 Macs, and use ARD every day to keep them in running trim. Being able to install updates to multiple machines at once saves me hours a week, and the ability to quickly show someone how to fix a problem right on their screen is great. It’s also useful at home for managing the handful of machines around the house. (I only wish it could incorporate management of iOS devices!) There have been bugs over the years (mostly cometic – no data corrupters), but this refresh reassures me that Apple hasn’t quite given up on ARD, and that we can look forward to ongoing support. For me, this Application has more than paid for itself. (And it’s a lot cheaper now than it was back at v. 3.0. $499!)

“Observe multiple computers” bug fixed!

Finally Apple fixed the bug that prevented me from observing more than one computer at a time on Yosemite! Thanks!

Good way to manage computer

I don’t work in the IT field, or anything like that. I’m just a home user who has to manage my parents computer along with my own. Sometimes, I want to install udpates but not intereupt them while they are on the computer. This is perfect for managign multiple computer to do just that. I think if you have multiple Mac’s in your home and you need to manage them, this is the best app for it.

Frustratingly buggy

This app is great, it allows me to quickly log into workstations and fix issues without having to leave my desk, see basic information like IP address and network name, and overall simplifies my job. However, it often breaks - if I close it, it tends to crash upon reopening, and I have to delete all traces of it from my system (including all my saved computers / passwords / usernames, and scanners) and it takes some time to re-add everything, which is immensely frustrating. I have not yet found any solutions to this issue. Sadly there’s no usable alternative so this is just something I have to deal with on a weekly basis.

Buggy on 10.12 (Sierra)

Come on Apple get the bugs squashed on current version running on 10.12 (Sierra). People like me count on this software to actually work so we can manage the Macs we support. Also when are you going to give ARD a real update? It’s a little long in the tooth at this point as you haven’t improved it for a number of years now..

only for local network

only for local network….can’t connect when overseas. This is the worst app of all times. Its slow….it hangs…..it takes forever to copy and paste text..yes text……its a crap app.

Dobry soft, z paroma błędami / Good software, few noticable flaws

Very good software, allow instant program upload to the stations, computer supervision, etc. etc. Unfortuantely it has few weird flaws and Apple rarely seems to update and bugfix this program.

Верификация

После обновления машины видит в окружении.Но в результате подключения просто идет верификация логин-пароля с бесконечным вращением колёсика и Всё!(Please make sure that Screen Sharing (in the Sharing section of System Preferences) is enabled on the computer to which you are attempting to connect. Also make sure your network connection is working properly.)

broken with multiple monitors

I have been using this application since its inception, in addition to other virtual network computing programs (and their predecessors). ARD had been a great Mac solution, well-integrated with other aspects of the OS. My impression is that development of it has stagnated for the last 2 or more years. It no longer correctly works to remotely control a desktop with two monitors arranged side-be-side. Other VNC solutions correctly handle the basic connection at far less $.
